Issue printing from Windows

With the October 2021 updates, Microsoft have broken network printing. The impact is:

- No Windows devices, managed or unmanaged, can add the PrintCloud queue or any other of our printers.

- Windows devices which already have our queues installed will continue to print normally.

 

If you are affected by this problem you can: 

- Use ePrint to upload or email documents.

- Print using an IT classroom computer.

- Use the Virtual Desktop Service to print to Printcloud.

 

We are working on solutions to this problem.

Print System Maintenance - Tuesday 16 November

We will be performing essential maintenance on the York Print Plus print system between 7 - 9am on Tuesday 16 November. Please read the following email carefully as your future ability to print may be affected

 

During this time, York Print Plus will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes, including print submission and job release.

 

Most printers will reconnect automatically after the work is completed, but some may require a restart. We will restart affected printers once the update is complete. If you continue to see problems with a printer after 10am, please contact IT Support for further assistance.

 

We will provide updates here as the work proceeds. If any changes are required on user devices, they will be included here and we will make widespread announcements.

 

Please can we request any urgent printing be carried out prior to 7am on 16 November.

The scheduled maintenance is now complete.

Some users may still encounter issues adding the PrintCloud to Windows devices. If you are affected by this problem you can: 

- Use ePrint to upload or email documents.

- Print using an IT classroom computer.

- Use the Virtual Desktop Service to print to Printcloud.

 

We are continuing to work on solutions to this problem.

We have now created new setup guides, which will allow you to set up the PrintCloud on Windows devices:

The printing service should still be considered at-risk on Windows devices, as updates from Microsoft could impact the service again in the future. If you find that you are unable to print, please delete PrintCloud from your device and re-add it following the instructions above.
